Our core values – people, innovation, sustainability and ethical business practices

Colt was born as a family business, founded by Jack O’Hea in 1931, and has grown steadily, establishing a solid presence around the world, building on our core values – people, innovation, sustainability and ethical business practices.

People

People are at the heart of everything we do at Colt, in what we do for our customers and within our organisation.

Everything we do as a business centres on people: it is about creating a healthy, comfortable and safe environment for them to work and enjoy themselves – ensuring that "People feel better in Colt Conditions".

To do this we rely on our people, so we invest in nurturing our teams through training and mentoring, we encourage a collaborative working environment and foster innovative thinking.

And in everything we do, we put the comfort, health and safety of our employees and everyone affected by our activities first. Read more about our approach to Health and Safety.

Innovation

We anticipate the evolving needs of our customers and apply our best innovative thinking and expertise to be ready with the right technologies and products before they even know they need them. In doing this, we have a history of driving the industry in new directions as we develop new approaches.

We invest in design and test facilities that enable us to have confidence in the performance of our products and to reduce their time to market.

Colt and the environment

The built environment has a massive impact on our health and the natural environment, accounting for 40-50% of natural resource use, 20% of water use, 30-40% of energy use and around a third of CO2 emissions.*

At Colt we believe we have a role to play within the building industry in reducing this impact and contributing to a sustainable built environment.

We do this through our business activities, developing new technologies and solutions that harness the natural elements to make the most efficient use of energy and reduce our customers’ carbon footprint.

And we do it in the way we run our business: we strive to reduce our CO2 footprint and take every opportunity to minimise the environmental impact of our activities, investing in a sustainable future.
